Mundelein school's bomb threat unfounded, police say

Mundelein police investigated a bomb threat at Carl Sandburg Middle School today and determined it was unfounded, police said. The threat was called into the school, 855 W. Hawley St., at 11:22 a.m. and police were immediately notified and responded, Mundelein police said in a release.
College of DuPage Offers 'Citizens Public Safety Academy' this Summer

The Homeland Security Training Institute at College of DuPage is offering the Citizens Public Safety Academy, designed to provide participants the opportunity to become more aware of and involved with their own safety. SPRINGFIELD -- Working to keep retired police dogs with their handlers, State Senator Tom Cullerton (D--Villa Park) passed Senate Bill 3129 today, which creates the Police Dog Retirement Act. "As a dog owner myself, I know there is a special bond between an officer and their dog," Cullerton said. "It's important that we take the necessary precautions to honor the special relationship between an officer and their police dog."
Should servers deny pregnant women alcohol?

According to new guidelines released by the New York City Commission on Human Rights, pregnant women are legally allowed to order a drink when they walk into a bar. "While the CDC recommends that women who may become pregnant or are pregnant do not consume alcoholic beverages, the right to drink as an adult female stills lies with the pregnant women," says Donna Ackerman, nurse director of perioperative and OB/GYN Services at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

The Healthy Aging Seminar is a Wellness Ministry program sponsored in coordination between Advocate Condell Medical Center and Ivanhoe Congregational Church, Community Protestant Church, St. Andrew Lutheran Church and Kirk of the Lakes Presbyterian Church.
