Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Buffalo Grove Junior OpenJun 6, 2023 3:40 PM - The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Buffalo Grove Junior Open at the Buffalo Grove Golf Course on June 3-4. Boys and girls traveled from around the country to participate in the 18-hole tournament. The event had five divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18 and Girls U13. First place winner in the boys 16-18 division was long time HJGT player, Leo Romano from Chicago. Romano had eight birdies on the weekend and put up scores of 71 and 74 totaling 145. Not only was this his fourth HJGT win but it was also his lowest score since joining in 2019. The runner up honors went to Joey Hoffman from Edina, Minnesota. With a round 1 score of 75 and 78 for round 2, his total for the weekend was 153. Hoffman is currently within the Top 100 of the HJGT point rankings. William Cui from Lake Forest places in the top three honors with a total of 155 for the weekend.

Book Event at Sock Monkey Museum was a hitMay 30, 2023 9:59 AM - Long Grove's Sock Monkey Museum hosted author Melanie Holmes for a book launch event, which brought museum attendance to near-capacity for a while on Saturday, May 27. Holmes's appearance on WGN-TV contributed to the packed crowd, as well as Daily Herald coverage. Even though all books on-hand sold out, the museum will re-stock their shelves very soon.
