With all precincts reporting, unofficial counts show Ives, a freshman representative from Wheaton, with 63 percent of the votes. Challenger Adam Johnson of Warrenville has 37 percent.

    The two candidates running for the 42nd state House seat in the March 18 Republican primary — incumbent Jeanne Ives of Wheaton and challenger Adam Johnson of Warrenville — strongly disagree about how much Ives has accomplished during her first year in office. During a Daily Herald endorsement interview, Johnson said he is challenging Ives for their party’s nomination because she hasn’t delivered visible results since taking office last January. Ives said she is an effective legislator who isn’t afraid to take a tough stand.

With all precincts reporting, unofficial results show Ives had 62 percent of the vote to Adams' 38 percent.

  • Ives earns Republican nod in race for 42nd House Mar 20, 2012 10:34 PM
    A candidate who said she was more independent than her three opponents secured victory in the Republican primary for the 42nd House District. Jeanne Ives, a tax adviser, bookkeeper, West Point graduate and a member of the Wheaton City Council, took 36 percent of the vote, followed by Chris Hage with 31 percent, Laura Pollastrini with 20 percent and Dave Carlin with 13 percent, according to unofficial vote totals.
