Dizziness a side effect of tumor growth
Sep 5, 2011 6:00 AM - Dizziness is a common problem that you've addressed a lot. I suffered for over a year, having been diagnosed with Meniere's after a CT scan showed nothing. Much later, another doctor ordered an MRI that showed an acoustic neuroma. I would encourage anyone with continuing dizziness to have an MRI. It saved my life.

Are drugs the best solution for sleep troubles?
Aug 29, 2011 6:00 AM - My 4-year-old granddaughter has been given medication to help her "enter REM sleep" at night for more than two years. What would be the side effects and long-term concerns of taking these? The way she seems drugged and the very deep sleep she falls into concerns me.

Coumadin can cause cold feeling
Aug 22, 2011 6:00 AM - I have a family member who takes Coumadin and always complains of being very cold. Nothing she does externally helps to warm her up. I figure that the thinning of her blood causes the cold feeling. I just want to find out if you have any suggestions on how to help her counter this side effect.

38 years of mouth ulcers tried patient's patience

I have been hospitalized for dehydration and have been entered in the medical books with pictures of my mouth and throat. Now, 38 years later, I have finally found the answer. I was recently put on a pill for GERD, and the sores are now under control.

Sugar levels have a yo-yo effect
Jul 25, 2011 1:00 AM - Q. I have been a Type 2 diabetic for 20 years. I have been having a lot of trouble keeping my blood sugar levels steady. They keep dropping down to 50. In the last couple of months my morning sugar has been between 85 and 110, but by lunch it has dropped to between 50 and 85. What can I eat to keep my levels up?

Grandpa's gait abnormality puzzles loved one
Jul 18, 2011 12:00 AM - My 75-year-old grandpa has been having a great deal of difficulty walking for about a month. His doctor ordered an MRI of the brain, indicating ataxia as a diagnosis. I can't understand what an MRI of the brain has to do with difficulties walking, and I sure don't know what ataxia is. Can you fill in the blanks?

Post-herpetic neuralgia rarely causes paralysis
Jun 27, 2011 1:00 AM - I am a 70-year-old woman who developed shingles on my right leg last June and am now left with neuropathy. The doctor was surprised that I developed post-herpetic neuralgia. My leg and foot are completely numb and I cannot bend the right foot upward.
