Once Stevenson's boys bowling team got the ball rolling, the momentum never stopped. The Patriots completed their season with a dominant display, excelling from the first frame to the 10th to capture the program's first state championship at St. Clair Lanes in downstate O'Fallon.

Defending champion Stevenson entered the second day of the North Suburban Conference wrestling tournament in third place Saturday at Wauconda. But the Patriots' refuse-to-lose attitude went a long way, as they built a commanding 30-point lead over Grant heading into the final round before capturing a second straight NSC championship.

The answer was short and sweet, and probably not the one she preferred to give. "We just got outplayed tonight," Stevenson junior guard Ashley Richardson said abruptly after the Pats' furious late charge came up a little short and Zion-Benton held on for a 48-43 North Suburban Lake girls basketball victory on Friday evening in Zion.

Making it to the state tournament was a big step for Stevenson's boys bowling team last weekend in the sectional. The Patriots are still on a roll after the first day of state competition. They came out rocking and rolling in downstate O'Fallon, setting a school record over their first three games with 3,499 pins to grab second place heading into Saturday's action.
