Elk Grove Township offers two Flu Vaccine Clinics this Fall
Elk Grove Township will host two flu vaccination clinics this fall, sponsored by Ascension Alexian Brothers. The first clinic will take place Friday, Oct. 6, and the second on Thursday, Nov. 9. Both clinics will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the township Meeting Hall, 600 Landmeier Road, in Elk Grove Village. Participants are asked to park in the east parking lot, located next to the flagpoles.
The clinics are free to attend and open to all township residents ages 18 and older. While reservations are not required, those who wish to secure their spot can make a reservation by calling (847) 437-0300. Walk-ins are also welcome, and photo identification is required to participate in the clinic.
"The health and wellness of our community members is very important to the township, and this is why we have partnered with Ascension to offer the flu vaccine for our residents," said Elk Grove Township Supervisor George Busse. "The timing is just right with the imminent arrival of flu season."
Seniors 55 years of age and older, or those who are disabled and 18+ are invited to utilize the township Senior Bus for transportation to and from either of the clinics. The township encourages those requesting a ride to make their reservations now so the transportation staff can ensure their needs are accommodated.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), flu vaccinations reduce the risk of getting the flu from between 40% and 60% and can also decrease the severity of the flu if someone gets it. It is also believed to be an important tool to protect the elderly and those with chronic health conditions.
