The Waco Brothers to Play Hey Nonny Dec. 27

Doing an internet search for upcoming Waco Brothers shows produces this among the results: "Waco's shows are rare. Don't miss them when they happen." Hey Nonny co-owner Chip Brooks couldn't agree more.

"All bets are off when the Waco Brothers hit our stage," Brooks said. "You might think after more than two decades the band would have mellowed, but you'd be dead wrong."

Long-known for their indescribable fusion of cowboy meets punk with a bit of political revolt thrown in, the Waco Brothers bring their musical onslaught to Hey Nonnya on Dec. 27 for a 7:30 p.m. show.

Led by singer/guitarist Jon Langford, the Waco Brothers have been testing country/alt/punk sensibilities from the onset. They bring a hard-driving, take-no-prisoners approach to music and lyrics that leaves fans wondering what hit them. But as Brooks explains, there's method to the madness.

"They aren't just a bunch of thrashers. These are wildly talented performers who just take a head-on approach to music. The sound is incredibly appealing even if it defies classification."

And among those internet search results comes this from the page for tickets to the Hey Nonny show: "In these fraught times, no ones out there writing and performing with the political and personal so intertwined. Like a strange, colorful and possibly poisonous toad that lies dormant in the mud of an Amazonian rainforest, only to emerge when it seems like it's necessary, the Waco Brothers are back, and, perhaps, we need them now more than ever."

Sounds like a can't miss experience.
