Our Saviour's Lutheran Church to sing in the season Dec. 4 with Christmas cantata
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Naperville will reflect on peace, hope and promise this Sunday, Dec. 4, with its annual Christmas Cantata.
Forty-five choir members and nearly 30 other musicians under the direction of Our Saviour's music director Terry Thompson will perform "Peace" by composer Joel Raney.
"Peace" reflects on the promise of peace that, in Christian tradition, the angels shared on the night of Christ's birth.
The choral work features jazz-, gospel- and calypso-influenced interpretations of well-known Christmas carols interwoven with readings of the Christmas story.
"In a world that seems increasingly divided, focusing on peace and sharing the good news of Christ's birth is more important than ever," Thompson said. "We pray that guests leave refreshed and renewed with peace in their hearts."
The community is invited to this free event at 3 p.m. at the Our Saviour's campus at 815 S. Washington St. in Naperville.
A goodwill offering will be taken to support music programs at Our Saviour's.
