CEO of EMI., Beth Salinger, said, "We are thrilled to have acquired Run Madtown and will work with the University of Wisconsin and the City of Madison to deliver a memorable event for everyone. We are ecstatic to add Run Madtown to the EMI family. We can't wait to begin revealing an amazing race experience next May to participants."

From the mid-1990s onward, a traditional half-marathon and marathon were held in Madison on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Due to extreme heat in 2009 and 2010 the marathon was cancelled and eventually moved to November. Memorial Day weekend continued to host a half-marathon on Sunday, with the addition of a popular Saturday evening Twilight 10K and 5K that launched in 2012 and rebranded Run Madtown.

"It was important to Madison Festivals that the new owner of Run Madtown was someone who was committed to providing an event that was impactful to the Madison community," said Sara Klemme, CEO of Madison Festivals. "Having RMT go to Endurance Marketing was an easy choice for Madison Festivals, Beth is someone with a high level of integrity, immense industry experience, and the has the foresight to think 'bigger than just the event'."
