Country Village Meats in Geneva to hold grand opening Sept. 29-Oct. 1
Country Village Meats, an artisan butcher shop in operation since 1955 in Sublette, IL opened a second location in Geneva late spring 2022. Since we completed our soft-opening phase, and community residents returned from summer vacations, we are ready to celebrate being part of Geneva and the Fox Valley with a ribbon cutting and three days of product samplings, unique offers, plus chances to win gift baskets and prizes.
Country Village Meats is all about meats crafted in the old-fashion butcher shop tradition. We are a family-owned business where meat is our passion. Our mission is to make the finest tasting products via the artisan methods of years past and to provide friendly, helpful service to our customers. Our new Geneva store has full-service meat, seafood, and deli counters, along with a grocery area stocked with foods from other local and family-owned businesses. We are the area's exclusive dealer of US-made Smokin' Brothers grills and accessories.
Country Village Meats president Laurie Winkler Darrow said, "We offer a full line of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and seafood products, plus a selection of deli meats and cheeses. We pride ourselves on connecting local Illinois farmers and customers. Customers may purchase locally raised beef, pork, and lamb along with local eggs, honey, and other small business artisan products. Customers also may order halves of hogs and quarters of beef from local farmers and processed at our Sublette location."
Laurie and Paul Darrow acquired Country Village Meats in Sublette in 2018. From the start, they envisioned opening a store in Geneva. It would take two years to purchase and extensively redevelop the 1950s Geneva building located at 715 East State Street. Now they and their staff enjoy meeting new and returning customers to show them why shopping at this neighborhood butcher shop makes sense to busy folks looking for quality meats and unique cuts at competitive pricing. "We make all our smoked meats, such as bacon, ham, meat sticks, jerky, and a wide variety of custom-made sausages. Other specialties include an extensive line of marinated and seasoned meats like tomato basil chicken breasts, butter garlic New York strips and cranberry maple pork chops. These meats are quick and simple for easy, tasty, memorable meals," commented Paul.
