Twentieth Anniversary of Foundation for Children in Need
Sharing Blessing: The 20th anniversary of Foundation for Children in Need (FCN) celebration took place on Friday, Aug. 12, at St. James Parish in Arlington Heights.
Nearly 250 gathered in the church to thank God for the many blessings poured upon Dr. Geetha and Tom Chitta, founders of FCN and on all the supporters. Father Edward Pelrine, pastor officiated the Mass while Father Matt Foley preached the homily. There was beautiful singing led by Raeghan Graessle, a long time FCN supporter.
FCN was founded in 2002, in Arlington Heights, to provide an opportunity to share the blessings with those in need in India. Today FCN sponsors 2,000 children and college students so that they can continue their education.
FCN has been helping children born with cleft lip and cleft palate. In the past 8 years, 2,000 children have been helped with the life changing surgeries. FCN trains young women in tailoring and embroidery. In 2019, FCN completed the construction of FCN Home near Shadnagar, outside of Hyderabad, to take care of the needy elderly and physically challenged. This Home provides a wonderful service to the most deserving totally free.
After the church service everyone gathered in the parish center for reception and dinner. Several sponsors shared about their experiences and encouraged others to continue to sponsor the children. There was outpouring of love and appreciation for the outstanding work done by FCN. Everyone had great time together. FCN founders, Tom and Geetha, thanked St. James Parish Community and everyone especially all those who have worked hard to make this event a grand success and provided the food.
