Noteworthy Concerts presents folk singer-songwriter Mark Dvorak June 26 to support Elderday Care Center

On Sunday, June 26, Noteworthy Acoustic Concerts will present folk singer and songwriter Mark Dvorak at 2 p.m.

The benefit concert will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St. in Batavia.

Proceeds will support the Elderday Care Center, housed within Bethany Lutheran.

The original goal of Noteworthy was to create a venue was to present a diverse array of acoustic performances open to the public with the Elderday Center and memory care communities in mind.

"We resumed scheduling last autumn and attendance is beginning to pick up," said music director Karen Jensen. "Mark was scheduled to be our first performer back in 2020, but of course the pandemic put a halt to everything. We're so happy that live music is back!"

Dvorak is busy at work on his 20th CD release "Live & Alone," recorded in an empty concert hall during the height of the pandemic lock down.

He is also planning to publish his fourth book of essays, "31 Winters," which reflects on his long journey through music and teaching.

"Mark is a treasure," Jensen said. "He's been on the road for a lot of years it seems and like fine wine, he just gets better with age. We're thrilled to have him."

The Chicago Tribune has called Dvorak "masterful," and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as "a living archive of song and style."

Dvorak has won awards for journalism and children's music, and was honored in 2013 with the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International. In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2012, Rich Warren, longtime host of "The Midnight Special" radio program named Dvorak "Chicago's official troubadour."

General admission tickets are $18, available at the door and at noteworthyacousticconcerts.com.

Elderday Center clients are admitted free.
