Seniors can celebrate health and fitness day in Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights Senior Center will join an estimated 1,000 local groups to celebrate the 29th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day Wednesday, May 25.

As an official host site, Arlington Heights Senior Center will hold a free health expo featuring local agency information booths, health screenings, exercise, yoga and meditation demos, and a keynote presentation on Conscious Aging.

"Older adults at all levels of physical fitness are encouraged to participate in National Senior Health & Fitness Day," said Patricia Henze, National Senior Health & Fitness Day program manager. "Our event goals are to increase awareness of the benefits of regular exercise, and to encourage all older adults to take advantage of the many health and fitness activities offered in their communities, as well as online."

According to Sarah Adelphia, program coordinator at Arlington Heights Senior Center, "Our NSHFD celebration is a wonderful opportunity for seniors to make, renew and revitalize their commitment to live healthier lives through better health and fitness."

The celebration will be held at Arlington Heights Senior Center, 1801 W. Central Road, Arlington Heights. This free event is open to all ages. Free tote bags will be given to the first 200 guests, and each participant will be entered into a drawing for free gift basket.
