Village of Volo Works to Protect Turtles

The forward-thinking Village of Volo installs seasonal signs along busy Fish Lake Road alerting motorists of turtles crossing the road. The road is adjacent to Singing Hills Forest Preserve and also to a large wetland on the Village Hall property. Encounters with vehicles account for a large number of turtle mortalities. The signs warn of the possible presence of slow-moving turtles on the roadway so that turtle fatalities can be avoided if possible.
