Sage Leadership Academy for Middle School Girls Hosts First Event

Sage Leadership Academy, a new organization founded by local entrepreneur, Dr. Sherrise Trotz, will help educate, equip, enable and empower middle school girls to unlock their unique life purpose. The organization will host its first workshop on self esteem on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

"Research has consistently shown that once girls enter middle school, there is a 50 percent decrease in confidence and self-esteem levels compared to their male counterparts which correlates with higher mental health disease, eating disorders and suicide rates," said Sherrise Trotz, founder of Sage Leadership Academy. Sherrise is also the owner of Sage Elite Studios in Kildeer. "We are very excited to launch the academy in 2022 with our first workshop addressing self-esteem and how it is the backbone for loving and appreciating oneself."

The workshop will take place on Saturday, February 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hawthorn Woods Country Club and will provide attendees with practical knowledge and applications for building and sustaining self-esteem that is critical for their personal and professional success.

Session topics will explore the fundamentals and triggers that impact self-esteem, offer engaging activities in self-discovery and provide an action plan to sustain self-esteem. The workshop also provides a three course luncheon that will include dining etiquette and networking protocols.

Looking ahead, Sage Leadership Academy will strive to partner with students through their middle school journey as they unleash and discover their innate gifts and acquire new skill sets.

"Our approach is to effectively integrate life and business skills through a series of Day Workshops tailored to specific life and business concepts," said Sherrise.

Future day workshops will include topics such as personal branding, the great appreciation of the female body, the importance of financial acumen, protecting mental health, creating impactful presentations and more.

Sage Leadership Academy has brought in experts from various fields to bring these relevant and timely workshops to middle school girls across the Chicagoland area. The team consists of:

• Dr. Regina Davis Moss, Ph.D, associate executive director of public health policy and practice for the American Public Health Association (APHA) based in Washington DC

• Dr. Monique Johnson, Ed.D, an education consultant, professor and mortician based in Houston, TX

Judge Raquel Brown, J.D., Tarrant County Magistrate and Municipal Judge for the City of Fort Worth, TX

• Ms. A. Chevelle Glymph Foster, MPH, the first Director of Public Health and Environmental Safety at Montgomery College based in Washington DC

• Dr. Cynthia Major Lewis, MD, Director of John Hopkins Adult Psychiatric Emergency Services

"As a mother of three pre-teen and teenage girls, I have witnessed and vicariously live through the myriad of societal and cultural pressures and norms that highly influence our pre-pubescent and pubescent children. The middle school life chapter is a phase we all remember and most likely want to forget, but it is a necessary rite of passage. I am proud to work alongside these tenacious and compassionate women where we will come together to help young girls through this highly complex, challenging and often overwhelming time in life," concluded Sherrise.
