GLMV Chamber looks back at 2021

The Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills Chamber of Commerce wishes the community a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

Reflecting on the past year, despite the challenges, the GLMV Chamber continued to adapt and offer numerous advocacy programs, services and resources to connect, engage and grow business.

Initiatives include:

• For businesses looking to gain a competitive edge with their workforce, GLMV began offering a new member benefit, a 401(k) program, that will work for any company or organization.

• With community support, some 1,000-plus coats and winterwear items were collected for veterans in need and their families during second annual GLMV Fall Coats For Vets Drive. The donated items were then provided to a nonprofit veterans organization. Coat drive sponsors T-Mobile, Great Lakes Credit Union, Shurway Movers, Wintrust Banks, GLMV Villages, police stations, and more than 30 businesses and organizations served as collection sites, making the program a huge success.

• Thanks to an abundance of community support, the GLMV Helping Heroes Campaign provided meals to medical professionals, first responders, police, and other heroes during the pandemic while supporting GLMV's member eateries.

• The business community also participated in the GLMV annual membership gala, annual golf outing, network groups, GLMV/MCC monthly bingo, village celebrations, art festivals, grand openings/ribbon cuttings, holiday events, member events and other opportunities throughout the year.

• The resilient business community is worthy of recognition for their support, participation and dedication to GLMV locales. The chamber recognizes GLMV board chairman Steve Kopala, Northwestern Mutual, and the chamber board of directors, GLMV Villages, sponsors, members and all for contributions, leadership, participation, and efforts to ensure a dynamic chamber.

• GLMV President Scott Adams continues to assist businesses to navigate a changing business climate, reaching out to local leaders and elected officials at all levels to help guide recovery, while also growing membership and providing high quality business advocacy offerings for all.

• GLMV notes a massive uptake in members looking to expand their outreach and stay top-of-mind via various marketing and promotional platforms, including the website with custom business profile page, social media, e-blasts, presentation opportunities, live video interviews, GLMV Community Guide, media, hot deals, and others.

• Although competition was stiff, GLMV was proud to be recognized as the best local chamber in the Daily Herald's 2021 Readers Choice "Best of the Best."

• GLMV Shop local campaigns encourage all to shop, dine and play local. For a referral or assistance, contact the chamber or visit the business directory of members at www.glmvchamber.org.

The chamber looks forward to a successful and brighter 2022.
