Elgin History Museum receives support from DAR

The Elgin History Museum received financial support from Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, for two initiatives: $500 for the children's education program development, and $1,500 toward preserving the Courier-News newspaper negatives from 1930s-1980s, which are being uploaded to Illinois Digital Archives (idaillinois.org).

The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded in Barrington, in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Due to fundraising efforts throughout 2021, the chapter was able to contribute financially to a number of 501 (c) (3) organizations, specifically in the areas of historic preservation, education, patriotism, conservation and Native Americans.

Since its founding in 1890 over one million women have joined both nationally and around the world. Membership in NSDAR is open to any woman aged 18 and over who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. For information, visit https://signalhilldar.com.
