Construction underway at Inverness Golf Club

The sounds of the season are a little different this year at the Inverness Golf Club.

While traditional holiday events are being held as usual in the club, the grounds are undergoing a makeover as new, resort-like facilities, including paddle and pickleball courts, indoor golf simulators, a sports bar and an ultracasual dining room, are under construction.

Over the past few months, construction crews have been laying the new courts, pouring the foundation for the new building and beginning to create a glimpse of what the footprint of the new Centre Court facility will be.

"This is an extraordinarily exciting time at Inverness Golf Club," General Manager and COO William Skelnik said. "Our holiday events are some of the most enjoyable of the year, and the anticipation of what the future will be is really growing as members arrive and see progress with our Centre Court project every week."

Current club president Kerry Lavelle added that the colder weather, which brings the end of the golf, tennis, and pool seasons, will no longer limit club activities.

"With the addition of the new courts and the golf simulators, our members can remain active all year long," Lavelle said, while acknowledging the work that has gone into the planning for the additions.

"Our membership took a very active role in determining what features we should add, and the village of Inverness and other government entities have worked with us to get to the point where construction could get started."

Skelnik said that since the updates were announced there has been an increase in families seeking membership.

"We have had a great 2021. IGC has always been the place to be in Inverness, and with our exceptional dining offerings and social events, more and more families are realizing the value and benefits we provide."
