Antioch Traveling Closet's annual Winter Giveaway Event is Dec. 12

The Antioch Traveling Closet will hold its 2021 Winter Giveaway Event from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Antioch Senior Center, 817 Holbek Drive in Antioch.

The ATC's mission is to ensure that no child, adult, or senior citizen is without basic items that people sometimes take for granted. The ATC collects donated items from the community such as new or very gently used clothing, shoes, winter jackets, boots, hats, gloves, books and toiletries, as well as school and cleaning supplies.

These items are then distributed for free at giveaway drives held three times annually. Additionally, professional hairstylists are on hand to give free haircuts.

This year, the ATC is hoping that Santa might give them a boost. Because of so many donors, their inventory of giveaway items has exceeded the storage space provided by the Antioch Senior Center. Likewise, they aren't able to display their complete inventory to area residents.

The ATC is looking for a generous individual or business in the area willing to donate a building or large space to both house inventory and operate a facility where area residents can obtain items they need beyond the three annual events.

The Antioch Traveling Closet, a 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in 2014. Donations are tax-deductible.
