Mount Prospect seeks nominees for holiday decorating contest

The village of Mount Prospect's Special Events Commission is looking to honor those individuals whose holiday decorations are a cut above the rest.

This year, the commission is opening up nominations to residents who think either their home or a neighbor's home is worthy of a prize.

Residents may go to the form at mountprospect.org/holidaydecorations to submit a nomination.

Categories are Best Decorated Business, Best Decorated Block, Simple But Elegant, Griswald Family House Award, Most Festive, Most Spiritual and the Grand Prize Winner. Nominations will be taken on a rolling basis. The commission will visit nominees between Dec. 6 and 17. They will pick the winners for all the categories except the grand prize at that time.

Six homes will be nominated for the grand prize, and residents will get to vote for their favorite on Facebook between Dec. 18 and 22. The house with the most likes will be the winner.
