Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital Promotes Diabetes Awareness

On November 14, Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital team members participated in the Beacon Place Grate FULL Market in Waukegan, a festival offering fresh fruits and vegetables at no cost, along with festive activities including sports, crafts and games as people begin to prepare for Thanksgiving.

The market was an idea spearheaded by two Lake Forest School District 67 sixth graders last winter to help during the coronavirus pandemic, and grew into what is now Grate Full Market.

Northwestern Medicine staff educated participants about pre-diabetes, explaining how much sugar content are in their favorite drinks, and encouraging healthier choices.
