Residents at Friendship Village Observe Month of Gratitude and Veterans Day

Residents at Friendship Village senior living community are observing November as the designated Month of Gratitude as well as honoring Veterans Day.

Over the past several weeks, residents across the entire retirement community penned notes of appreciation to the U.S. Military through A Million Thanks (AMT). This national nonprofit initiative supports our active, reserve, and veteran military. Founded in 2004, by a 15-year old young lady for a community service project, AMT turned into a national cause almost immediately. Friendship Village has been pleased to participate in the cause.

"Our residents have a special bond with active service people and veterans, especially since so many of them have served in or had loved ones in the military. They were excited to have this opportunity to show their appreciation by participating in AMT," said Jeannette Magdaleno, manager of lifelong learning and volunteer services. "We wrote and donated approximately 300 letters and cards of appreciation."
