Baptism is often considered a ritual where either babies in white gowns are sprinkled with water or adults are dunked into a large tub or body of water.

If you are interested in learning more about baptism, being baptized or having a family member baptized, you are encouraged to come to Living Christ Lutheran Church, 625 E. Dundee Road, Arlington Heights, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.

A "Service of Baptism" will welcome all people, regardless of age, church membership or denominational affiliation, to be baptized. Godparents/sponsors are invited, but not necessary. While participants are welcome to get dressed up, there is no formal dress code. This will involve sprinkling of water on the head and will not be a full immersion baptism, so bathing suits are not needed.

An optional short introduction to baptism and a Q&A session will begin at 3 p.m., with the actual baptism service at 4 p.m. A celebration with cake and beverages will follow the service.

The Rev. Peter Berauer will officiate at the ceremony.

To learn more, visit www.livingchristlutheran.org/baptism. Walk-ins are welcome, but RSVPs are appreciated.

For details, call (847) 577-7133 or email office@livingchristlutheran.org.
