College of DuPage College Theater presents 'The Living' Oct. 7-24
College of DuPage College Theater presents "The Living," Anthony Clarvoe's tale of the power of courage and compassions, starting Thursday, Oct. 7. The production, which continues through Oct. 24, will be 7 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays in the McAninch Arts Center Studio Theater on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
In 1665, the plague brought London to its knees. Directed by COD Theater Department Chair Connie Canaday Howard, follow the stories of Londoners who have remained in the city as they struggle to find meaning amid a catastrophic epidemic.
Canaday Howard said that while the script is powerful on its own, in the midst of COVID-19 it has taken on a whole new importance.
"We will meet many characters who, despite great risk or loss, continue to help and support those afflicted," she said. "To me, the play poignantly dramatizes the need and growth of community in the midst of much desperation, pain and fear. This theme is one that many of us have pondered during the past 17 months."
Tickets are $14 for students and seniors, and $16 for adults. Tickets are available at www.atthemac.org/events/the-living/. Please note the play contains mature themes and language.
Talk back sessions will take place at 6:45 p.m. before the Oct. 7 performance with the production team and after the Oct. 15 performance with the actors and Canaday Howard.
