Elmhurst residents start Warm Coats For Cool Kids nonprofit

Elmhurst residents Garry and Debra Vaccaro have launched a nonprofit organization named Warm Coats For Cool Kids.

The mission of Warm Coats is to provide new winter coats to children of families in need residing in the western suburbs. Initially self-funded, the Vaccaros spent their time this winter purchasing end of season coats for upcoming distribution events.

This fall, Warm Coats will distribute coats to children through events partnered with local schools, churches, and other community organizations. Individual requests of need are also accepted and can be submitted through their website, www.warmcoats-coolkids.org.

Warm Coats has committed to providing over 500 coats from their inventory to low income families that are struggling financially. Your donation will help Warm Coats to purchase coats for winter distributions.

As word spreads about the efforts of Warm Coats the Vaccaros have been finding gently used as well as new coats being left on their doorstep. Backyard fundraising events have been a way to get the word out and receive donations. Other resources are being explored as the Vaccaros' make connections in the service community known for giving together.

The vision of Warm Coats is to expand their service area and to provide new winter coats to as many children in need as is possible.

To achieve that goal a GoFundMe has been established and can be accessed at www.gofundme.com/f/warm-coats-for-cool-kids-fundraiser or visit their website www.warmcoats-coolkids.org.

One hundred percent of donations received are used to purchase new coats. With the generous donations from the community they can provide coats to children that need them the most.
