Bartlett Rotary Club focuses on service to local charities

Suzie Sias, president of the Bartlett Rotary Club, announced that this year's Rotary slogan is "Serve to Change Lives." This is the inspiration for a new monthly program initiated with the club.

The first meeting of each month will be a pop- up service project. The kick off was July 1 with a food drive to benefit Hanover Township Food Pantry.

This was followed up in August with a collection of school and animal supplies to support the National Night Out drive to support the Hanover Township Back to School Backpack campaign and the needs of Willowbrook Wildlife Foundation.

The service project in September was a letter writing day to send letters of encouragement to two young women the club sponsors to attend Nyegina Secondary School in Tanzania.

On Oct. 3, the club will host a nine-hole Octoberfest themed golf outing at Bartlett Hills to raise money for its charitable and service activities.

The Bartlett Rotary Club meets 12:15 p.m. each Thursday at Villa Olivia, 1401 W. Lake St., Bartlett.
