Boy Scout Troop 575 has awarded the Eagle rank, Scouting's highest rank, to Gavin O'Keefe of West Chicago. Gavin is the 56th scout from the Troop to be awarded this rank. Ceremonies were held Sept. 5 at Pratt Wayne Woods Forest Preserve.

The Eagle rank is the highest rank in Boy Scouts. Nationally, only 7% of Boy Scouts achieve this rank.

Gavin graduated from West Chicago Community High School in 2019 and is attending Case Western Reserve University where he is pursuing a degree in music education.

For his Eagle project, Gavin led the design and construction of three jumbo games for Special Camps, an organization that provides summer camp experiences and opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Winfield Boy Scout Troop 575 was founded in 1997 and is made up of Scouts from throughout western DuPage County.

The Troop is known for its commitment to the community, developing the moral character and leadership skills of its members, and producing Scouts with exceptional outdoor skills.
