Joanem elected as region treasurer of national bar association

Attorney John L. Joanem of Waukegan has recently been elected as treasurer of Region VII of the National Bar Association. Joanem, who has been in practice for 27 years, said he welcomes the opportunity to serve and lead.

Joanem is also a member of the Haitian American Lawyers Association and serves as co-chair of the Community Outreach and Diversity Committee for the Lake County Bar Association.

The National Bar Association was founded in 1924 and is the nation's oldest and largest bar association of predominantly African-American lawyers, judges and law students and has more than 60,000 members.

Region VII consists of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
