Chicago Dogs to Give Away Butch Hobson Bobbleheads in Honor of their Field Manager Friday, July 23

This Friday, the first 1,500 fans who come to watch the Chicago Dogs face off against the Cleburne Railroaders receive a free Butch Bobblehead, in celebration of Chicago Dogs field manager Butch Hobson.

Entering his fourth season in Chicago, Hobson is the first (and only) manager in Chicago Dogs history. He boasts more than 30 years of experience in both major and minor league baseball, including three seasons as manager of the Boston Red Sox. Hobson is a University of Alabama alumnus who once played as a backup quarterback under coach Bear Bryant. He is also a former MLB third baseman, having played for the Boston Red Sox (1975-80), California Angels (1981) and New York Yankees (1982). After retiring as a player, Hobson managed the Pawtucket Red Sox before being promoted to Boston. As manager of MLB's Red Sox from 1992-94, he led the team to 207 victories. Hobson has also managed in the Boston Red Sox minor league system, New York Mets minor league system, Philadelphia Phillies minor league system and the Independent Atlantic League's Lancaster Barnstormers, as well as with the Mobile Bay Sharks and Nashua Pride. Hobson most recently served as manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks' Class-A affiliate
