Winfield church honors two college students with scholarships

Winfield Community United Methodist Church honored two of its college students with a financial scholarship at the July 18 service.

An anonymous gift was given to the church to allow for the financial assistance to college students.

Pastor Bruce Anderson awarded scholarships to Abinaya Wiggins of Winfield, a senior at Loyola University of Chicago, with a double major in political science and economics and to Payton Miller of Wheaton, a second-year student at College of DuPage, studying physical therapy who plans to continue her studies at the University of Alabama. Fran Miller of Winfield represented Payton Miller who was not able to attend the service.

The church has in-person worship services at 10:30 a.m. Sundays. It is located at 0S347 Jefferson at the corner of Jefferson Street and Sunnyside Avenue in Winfield.
