4th annual Five-0 Competition to raise money for Special Olympics July 24

Active and retired law enforcement officers from across the state will compete in the season's largest Team Demolition Derby on Saturday, July 24, at the Dirty-O, 3200 S. Chicago St. in Joliet.

Team Demolition Derby's Five-0 is a Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics of Illinois.

Since the inaugural event, Dirt Oval 66 has raised over $1 million for Special Olympics and the number keeps rising.

Team Demolition Derby is the main event for the evening, with teams competing to be the last cast standing.

The Five-0 competition features a stockcar race in which police officers race vehicles decked out in their department's patrol colors and decals.

Officers from more than 30 different police departments in Illinois have signed up to participate.

Prior to event kick-off, guests will have a chance to see the Five-0 Safety Show where they get to meet the competing drivers and see their cars up close and personal as well as a "Touch-a-Truck" with public safety vehicles.

Advance tickets for Team Demolition Derby's Five-0 at the Dirty-O are $20 or $13 for kids, age 3 to 12. Tickets on the day of are $24 or $18 for kids. Gates open at 3 p.m. for tailgating and a pre-event party with showtime at 7 p.m.
