16 inductees to be named to Hall of Honor at Batavia High School Sept. 23

On Thursday, Sept. 23, Batavia Unit District 101 will welcome sixteen inductees into its BPS101 Hall of Honor at Batavia High School. In a typical year, the Hall of Honor welcomes eight inductees, but the 2020 celebration was delayed so this year's celebration will combine the 2020 and 2021 classes with, "Twice the Fun in '21."

The Hall of Honor was initiated by the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence and BPS101 to promote pride in Batavia Public Schools and to honor alumni, faculty, and friends who have made outstanding accomplishments in their communities and personal lives since they have been associated with the school district.

The 2020 inductees are:

• Batavia High School Alumni: Robert Becker, Dominic Cattero, Julie Johnson, Gary Ritchason, Jamie Saam, and Byron Von Hoff.

• Staff: Michael Stiers

• Friend of BPS101: Steve Heronemus

The 2021 inductees are:

• Batavia High School Alumni: Arnold P. Benson, Archie Bentz Jr, Dr. Bryan Bertoglio, Peter M. Donat, Marjorie Holbrook, and Anton Inglese

• Staff: Lori Carbonell

• Friend of BPS101: Lisa Farley

The Hall of Honor induction ceremony will take place at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre located at Batavia High School, 1201 Main St. Use the Wilson Street entrance.

The doors will open at 6 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. and a meet-and-greet and receiving line of inductees at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $15 or $5 for a student/child (children age 5 or younger are free admission).

Twelve of the 16 inductees will be installed as Batavia High School Alumni, two will enter the Hall of Honor as BPS101 Staff Members, and two will be installed as Friends of Batavia for loyal support and dedication to the school district.

The Hall of Honor was founded to promote pride in Batavia Public Schools and to honor alumni, faculty, staff, and friends who have made outstanding accomplishments in their communities and their lives since they have been associated with the school district.
