American Gold Sports Alliance brings softball training to young athletes

The American Gold Sports Alliance will conduct a softball day camp for girls between the ages of 6 and 12 on July 12-15 at Ackerman Park's Field 5, 800 St. Charles Road in Glen Ellyn. It will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The American Gold Sports Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit sports foundation that focuses on bringing sports related opportunities to underserved communities, by "encouraging and inspiring achievement in the world of sports competition."

The American Gold Sports Alliance has firm Chicagoland roots, consisting of leadership and team members who grew up or still live in the Chicago area. AGSA Founder and President Steve "Sid" Caesar grew up in Wheaton and Glen Ellyn, as did his two brothers Ted and Mike, who also are part of the AGSA team as well. They also have another group of Chicago area siblings, Tara and Taylor Shingler, who are multisport athletes from Lockport, Ill.

They have assembled a team of current and former college softball players and travel coaches to be instructors for the softball day camp. The coaching team will concentrate on basic and advanced softball skills, techniques, and strategies, during the four-day event. All of the AGSA instructors have completed the USA Softball ACE Coaching Education Program and hold ACE Level 1 credentials.

Sid Caesar has been very excited with encouragement from the softball community, as the day camp filled up quickly with eager athletes, ready to learn more about learning and improving their softball abilities. "The AGSA team is happy to be able to give back to the community. All of the AGSA team members have had coaches, officials, and administrators give their time and effort towards making our sports successful when we were young, so this softball camp is a wonderful way to start 'giving back,' supporting the student-athletes of Chicagoland," said Caesar about the camp.

The American Gold Sports Alliance has other Chicagoland initiatives, including Platinum level sponsorship of the West Suburban Wrestling Club in Naperville, IL and internships for local high school and college student athletes.
