Bolingbrook High grad named chair of Western Illinois University board

MACOMB/MOLINE, Ill. - At the June 11 board of trustees meeting, trustees approved the Western Illinois University's fiscal year 2022 preliminary spending plan of $201.8 million. The plan must be prepared prior to July 1 for submission to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the Illinois State Legislature and the governor.

In other business, the board voted to discontinue the Cost Guarantee program for incoming graduate students. At the March 26 BOT meeting, the board tabled the vote until the June meeting. The Cost Guarantee program for incoming undergraduate students remains in place. The board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, and tenure and promotion recommendations for faculty members.

In addition, the board elected officers for July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. Doug Shaw was elected chair, Erik Dolieslager was elected vice chair and Kisha Lang was elected secretary. Outgoing Student Trustee Justin Brown was recognized for his service. Kinsey Tiemann, a senior agriculture major, was elected by the student body to serve as Western's board of trustees student representative from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.
