Waubonsee celebrates grads with drive-through parade

Waubonsee Community College hosted a drive-through graduation parade to celebrate the achievements and the resilience of the Class of 2021 on June 4.

Graduates and their families lined up their decorated vehicles, honked horns, and waved congratulatory signs in a parade designed to affirm the unprecedented challenges they overcame in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Participants also enjoyed music and prizes provided by the college and local radio station, 95.9 The River (WERV-FM).

At Waubonsee Community College, 935 individuals have earned degrees during the 2020-2021 academic year. Of that number, 23 will graduate with two degrees, 53 students earned Presidential Honors of a 4.0 GPA, and 300 earned Academic Honors of a GPA between 3.5 and 3.9.

Seven students graduated from Waubonsee's Honors Program. The youngest graduate is 17 years old and the oldest is 62 years old. The average age of this year's class is 26. The average GPA of this group of students is 3.24; a tremendous collective accomplishment.

Waubonsee Community College faculty, staff, and friends of the college applaud the many achievements of the Class of 2021 and wish each graduate continued success in life and learning.
