Palatine Jaycees kick off summer with Kickball Tournament June 12

The Palatine Jaycees are excited to host its inaugural Kickball Tournament June 12 to kick off the summer ahead of the Fourth of July Hometown Fest, which is July 1-5.

Teams of 10-15 players will compete in an eight-team bracket at Palatine Community Park, 250 E. Wood St. Those interested in joining in on the fun without a full team can sign up to be a free agent and be added to an existing team's roster.

Register at palatinejaycees.org/hometown-fest/kickball-tournament. The deadline is June 1.

Each team will receive up to 15 T-shirts in the color of their team's choice. The registration cost is $180 per team or $18 per free agent.

"This is the first year the Palatine Jaycees are organizing a Kickball Tournament. We're hoping it is an opportunity to bring the community together in a safe manner for an afternoon and evening of fun," said Mike Bellino, Jaycees Kickball Tournament co-chairman.

"We're excited to kick off the summer a couple weeks ahead of the Jaycees Fourth of July festival, Hometown Fest, and finally get out and enjoy the fresh air with our friends and the community," said Trisha Parks, Jaycees Kickball Tournament co-chairwoman.

The mission of the Palatine Jaycees is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change. The members volunteer their time to organize and run Hometown Fest each year.

Proceeds from Hometown Fest benefit Palatine by funding community projects, community grants, high school scholarships and more.

All state and local guidelines will be followed to ensure a safe Kickball Tournament and Fourth of July festival, and all festival activities are subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees has more than 100 members and is one of the largest of the 50 chapters throughout Illinois. The Jaycees give individuals ages 21 to 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their communities.

The Palatine Jaycees currently hold a monthly general meeting at 7:30 p.m. the third Thursday of the month in a hybrid setting both virtually and at Arlington Lanes in Arlington Heights.
