Waukegan Park District to host 2021 Fishing Derby

The Waukegan Park District invites families to participate in the 2021 Fishing Derby from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, at Bevier Park, 2255 Yorkhouse Road, Waukegan. The 2021 Fishing Derby will be the first in-person special event held by the Waukegan Park District since the pandemic began.

Participants will have the chance to win prizes in a friendly competition for the largest fish caught in their age group. Competitions will be held for the following age groups: 4 years or younger, ages 5-8, ages 9-12, ages 13-16, and 17 years or older.

To allow for social distancing among participants and staff, the 2021 Fishing Derby will be capped at 200 participants. Face masks that cover the nose and mouth will be required to be worn by all participants.

Advanced registration is required. Registration will not be processed on-site the day of the event. More details, including registration and fees, are available at waukeganparks.org/fishingderby.
