Bensenville celebrates Earth Day with park cleanup event

On April 24, more than 100 volunteers spent their Saturday morning cleaning up Bensenville parks to celebrate Earth Day. This was a collaborative effort between the village, Bensenville Park District, and Grand Subaru.

All volunteers had the option to choose between cleaning up Bensenville Park District parks or the village's Redmond Recreational Complex. The event was sponsored by Grand Subaru of Bensenville who participated in the cleanup and provided funding to purchase T-shirts for volunteers.

Along with a free shirt, the Bensenville Park District provided a daily water park pass to those who participated.

"Doing our part to protect the planet while also witnessing residents give back to the community is something I am humbled to see take place. This is yet another example of the strength and unity that I am proud to say exists within the Bensenville community," said Village President Frank DeSimone. "Thank you to Grand Subaru for sponsoring the event and to all those who volunteered their time to help clean up Bensenville this Earth Day."

In total, volunteers filled an entire pickup truck and about 5 barrels full of trash. The village thanks the Bensenville Park District, Grand Subaru, and all volunteers for making this event possible.
