5K for Education Hope for Haitians set for May 8

5K for Education Hope For Haitians 2021 is on!

The fundraising run will return on Saturday, May 8, at the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave. in Geneva.

This event is for runners and walkers, both in-person and virtual. Using the state guidelines for COVID-19, organizers will safely conduct an on-site 5K. Those who register will receive all the information needed to enjoy this outdoor event. There will be staggered start times, social distancing, and guidelines for masks and sanitizing.

For serious runners, this is a timed event on a certified course. Those who register for in-person 5K will automatically be switched to virtual 5K if conditions change.

Those who prefer to not be there physically can still join in by registering for the virtual 5K between April 27 and May 6.

For those interested in donating to the cause, consider choosing to support a fundraising team.

All participants will receive a T-shirt, a goody bag, and a Cinnabon (individually wrapped).

The cost is $25, or free for age 12 or younger.

This year's mission is to raise money for the school that has been built in Garde Saline, Haiti. This school will provide education for the children of nearby villages. The organization has built 14 villages in Haiti, providing over 600 safe, sturdy homes for the poorest of the poor. They also provide medical care for residents, and have installed hand-washing stations in the villages.

Come join in the fun and, if you'd like to, dress up in anything resembling bunnies, buns or sweet rolls, or wear your hair in a bun!
