Search continues for Lombard's 2021 Man of the Year and Woman of the Year

The Lombard Service League and the Lombard Rotary Club are seeking nominations for Lombard Woman of the Year and Lombard Man of the Year.

Once again, the Service League and Rotary Club are working together to honor a distinguished woman and man who give their time, talent, and services to benefit others in the community.

Residents, businesses, and organizations are invited to submit nominees of people deserving of this honor.

Nominees must reside at a Lombard mailing address. Letters of nomination must not exceed 500 words.

The names, addresses, and telephone numbers of the nominee as well as the person nominating must be included in the letter.

Nominations for Woman of the Year can be mailed to: Lombard Woman of the Year, c/o Lombard Service League, P.O. Box 482, Lombard, IL 60148. Or emailed to: janeplonka@comcast.net.

Nominations for Man of the Year can be mailed to: Lombard Man of the Year, c/o Lombard Rotary Club, P.O. Box 1003, Lombard, IL 60148. Or emailed to legal@dennisjmcnicholas.com.

The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, April 22.

If you need confirmation of the receipt of your nomination, include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

The 2021 Woman of the Year and Man of the Year will be announced and introduced at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Lilacia Park Pavilion. Guests will include past honorees.

The honorees will be further recognized during their participation in the Lilac Parade currently scheduled for Sunday, May 16, or on the alternate date of Sunday, Sept. 16.

Organized in 1950, Lombard Service League is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, with a membership of over 80,000. The local club serves the community through various service projects and fundraisers. The League functions like a giving circle in that it identifies needs within the community, raises monies, and makes funding determinations. The club currently meets at 7 p.m. on second Thursday of each month. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all meetings and some events have been held through Zoom.

The Lombard Rotary Club, founded in November 1963, is comprised of men and women who are business, governmental and community leaders in the Lombard area. They follow the mission of Rotary International, which is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
