Renew your license plate sticker at Itasca Community Library

Skip the long lines at the Secretary of State facility - the Itasca Community Library now offers Illinois license plate sticker renewal service. Illinois residents are able to renew and leave with their license plate sticker the same day.

Itasca Community Library Director Frank Murray says, "We are excited to offer the license plate sticker renewal service to our community. We are constantly exploring new ways to serve our patrons, and we hope this new and convenient service will encourage even more community members to engage with the library."

Stop by the checkout desk, and one of the library's friendly staff members will print a sticker for you on the spot.

To renew your sticker, you will need to bring your Illinois vehicle registration renewal notice or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), driver's license number, and license plate number.

The library will not be able to renew your license plate sticker if your vehicle needs to pass an emissions test, so please make sure you are ready.

Please note the change in sticker costs: a standard renewal sticker costs $151, a renewal sticker for a personalized plate costs $158, and a renewal sticker for a vanity plate costs $164.

Like local check-cashing businesses, there will be an additional $9.50 processing fee. You can pay with cash, debit, or credit card.

The license plate sticker renewal service is available during regular library hours, which are currently Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

When visiting the library, please adhere to the library's COVID-19 guidelines: face masks are required, practice social distancing, and if you are experiencing COVID-like symptoms, please stay home.
