Huntley church sets Holy Week and Easter worship schedule

On March 28, Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley will offer two Palm Sunday services including a traditional worship with Palms at 9 a.m. and contemporary worship with Palms at 10:45 a.m. Both services will begin outside, weather permitting, and worshippers will proceed with Palms into the church sanctuary.

All services (except the children's Good Friday April 2 service and the April 3 service) include both in person with limited capacity and livestreaming on the church website at sotp.org. Check the church calendar on the website for scheduled events and worship services.

Holy Week services include:

• Maundy Thursday traditional service with focus on servanthood, loving one another, and the Lord's Supper at 7 p.m.

• Good Friday children's service, "What's So Good About Good Friday" at 10 a.m. A casual sit on the floor service with Pastor Mark Boster for children and their parents with songs and children's conversations (no livestreaming). At 7 p.m., a Tenebrae service, which gets its name from the Latin word for darkness. The service focuses on the seven last words of Christ with the alternating of scripture readings, lighting of candles and hymns.

• Saturday, April 3, Easter-themed traditional worship at 5 p.m. (no livestreaming).

• Easter Sunday Festive traditional worship with organ, trumpet, and small vocal ensemble at 8 and 9:30 a.m. Festive contemporary worship with praise band at 11 a.m.

All pandemic public health protocols will be in place and all worshippers will be required to wear a face mask.
