The Northwest Circle of Friends Women's Club Supports Needy Individuals

In February, The Northwest Circle of Friends (formerly, Welcome Wagon,) generously donated 138 pairs of new children's socks, 151 pairs of underwear, 12 T-shirts, five camisoles, five pairs of tights, 15 pairs of pajamas, two pairs of slippers and several miscellaneous clothing items to Shelter, Inc., group homes. Members Patty Branham and Lyn Neuhengen presented the items to Zoe McGrath of Shelter, Inc., in Arlington Heights, on Friday, Feb.12.

In January, we donated $320 to the Chicago Night Ministry who used our donation to make 650 brown bag lunches for the homeless. In March, we have chosen 2 children in need through the Palatine Township to receive Easter baskets from our club.

We hope to have a drive for another segment of our population -our seniors - at Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly, in May. We have received a list of the items they most need and will notify the members.

This past year has been different with no club luncheons, door prizes, or raffles, but our club has not been idle. We did what we could and helped people all over the Northwest suburbs. Thank you to all for your generosity.

Our club is always welcoming new members. We offer a variety of fun activities, (luncheons, programs, cards, golf, bowling, movie outings, Mah Jongg, Bridge) and have had virtual activities during the pandemic.
