Watch District 50 board candidates in online forum
On Tuesday, March 9, the Woodland District 50 PTA hosted a forum for all candidates running for the District 50 school board in the April 6 election.
This meeting was recorded via Zoom. The PTA is acting as a neutral party and will not be supporting any particular candidate. The goal of this forum is to allow community members an opportunity to learn more about the candidates.
The PTA provided a neutral moderator, Pat Arnold a member of the board of education for the McHenry Community High School District 156, where he serves as the board's secretary pro-tem.
The candidates who attended the forum included: Joseph DeRosa, Brianna Powvens (write-in), Carla N. Little, Anna Chang-Yen, Renea Amen, Corey Holmer, Katie A. Salyer Szostak (write-in), and Richard A. Stader-Shaw (write-in).
Candidates were allowed one minute each for opening remarks. After that, all participants were asked six predetermined questions and given up to two minutes to respond to each question.
After the conclusion of the questions, each candidate was provided 90 seconds for closing remarks. The speaking order was predetermined prior to the meeting using a randomizer.
The recording of the forum, along with candidate bios and ground rules, are available on the PTA website, woodland50pta.com. The recording is also posted directly on YouTube and can be accessed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvj7lhCtmBw.
