Find COVID-19 testing sites, vaccine info at Kane County Health's website

The Kane County Health Department is now administering COVID-19 vaccinations to an additional group of more than 1,600 Group 1A health care workers and Group 1B essential workers.

Healthcare workers who have not been contacted and are seeking more information about Phase 1A should contact COVIDvaccine@co.kane.il.us.

Vaccine appointments for Kane County residents in priority group 1B essential workers and seniors 65 and older are expected to begin within the next two weeks. Kane County will have more than 40 COVID-19 vaccine providers such as clinics, pharmacies, hospitals and medical practices in preparation for vaccinating group 1B.

"We are committed to getting these vaccines in the arms of residents as quickly as we receive them," said Kane County Health Department Interim Executive Director Kathy Fosser. "We anticipate our weekly allocation to increase as time goes on to allow us to more quickly get vaccine to residents."

Vaccinations for the general public are not likely to begin until early spring. Kane County residents will be informed of availability at that time. The health department is currently not accepting vaccination appointments.

The public is advised to continue to take precautions. Wear a mask, wash your hands and maintain your social distance. Avoid social gatherings and get tested if you think you have been exposed.

A mobile testing unit managed by the Illinois Department of Public Health will be in Kane County this week to provide COVID-19 tests to the community.

• Wednesday, Jan. 27, and Sunday, Jan. 30, at Elgin Sports Complex, 709 Sports Way, Elgin 60123;

• Thursday, Jan. 28, at Aldi-Fox Valley Flea Market parking lot, 1410 E. New York St., Aurora, IL 60505;

• Monday, Feb. 1, at East Aurora Flea Market, 175 N. State St., Aurora IL 60505;

• Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Supermercado La Chiquita, 651 Ashland Ave., Aurora IL 60505.

The mobile testing unit will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while supplies last. Testing is free and open to all regardless of symptoms. If you have recently been exposed to a potential or confirmed COVID-19 case, you are encouraged to get tested, even if you are not experiencing symptoms. A phone number and name are required in order to receive testing results. Photo ID is not required.

The Aurora COVID-19 Community Based testing site is open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or earlier if testing capacity is reached) at 2450 N. Farnsworth Ave. in Aurora, directly across from the Chicago Premium Outlets. Enter from Farnsworth Avenue only. Note: Test site may close due to weather conditions.
