Waukegan library announces service updates

Waukegan Public Library has announced that kiosk and express computer services are now available inside the main library.

All kiosk services are available by appointment only from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. All on-site appointments have a 15-minute maximum. The last appointment for the day will be scheduled 30 minutes before closing.

Kiosk services available at the main library include express computer use, printing, scanning and faxing. Other in-person services at the main library include paying fees, library card renewal and notary services. Patrons can ask to talk to a librarian for one-on-one assistance by telephone.

"We're excited to be offering these services by appointment and look forward to welcoming everyone back," Acting Executive Director Jon Gaskill said.

"Curbside pickup continues to run for those who would like contactless service, but for those who need more specific assistance, patrons can make an appointment to use an express computer to print something, scan or fax a document, or even copy a recipe. We also invite patrons to return materials, as we are now completely fines-free."

For the safety of the community and staff, patrons visiting the library are required to wear a face mask and abide by social distancing guidelines. Currently, service is limited to the main floor with a reduced maximum of 10 people.

Check-in is required and temperatures will be taken at the door. Plexiglass shields are located at every service desk. Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the main floor.

Curbside pickup services will continue at the main library by appointment from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Items can be returned in the book drop located on Martin Luther King Drive, behind the main library.

The Hinkston Branch remains closed until further notice. Adult ESL and literacy tutoring, Conversational ESL, digital literacy and health literacy are available as virtual programming.
