St. Viator High School puts annual Winter Arts Festival online

In an effort to showcase students' work while remaining safe, Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights will present the annual Winter Arts Festival digitally. Fine arts performances and visual arts presentations have been recorded and will be streamed on the school's website on Sunday, Dec. 20, starting at 7 p.m.

"Our first priority is, of course, keeping our students and their families safe," noted Anne Marie Lowery, Director of Student Activities at Saint Viator. "But COVID-19 wasn't going to keep us from celebrating our students. We're proud of their work and the growth they've experienced as artists during the first semester and we hope to capture some of the magic of our annual Winter Arts Festival in this new digital format."

More than 200 students are involved in this year's festival, entitled "Virtually Christmas." The lineup includes performances from three choirs, theater workshop classes, and the concert and jazz bands. The festival will also showcase various pieces from visual and digital arts classes, including the poster art for the festival, which was designed by Saint Viator student Faith DeLarco.

"It's been inspiring to see our students continue to create despite everything that's happening in the world," said Lowery. "Their creativity has not been stifled and the art and performances on display this year remain joyful. We hope this year's Winter Arts Festival brings holiday joy to the Saint Viator community."

The recording of the Winter Arts Festival was made possible thanks to donations from the Patrons of the Arts at Saint Viator and The Schwabe Group realtors.

The Winter Arts Festival will go live at 7 p.m. on December 20th at saintviator.com/winter-arts-festival.
