Wynburg Cafe Joins Tastes of Chicago Lineup with DIY Pancake Kits

WynBurg Cafe in Arlington Heights announced that the restaurant has partnered with Tastes of Chicago to offer their popular DIY pancake kits. Pancake-lovers across the country can now order the pancake kits online, including an option to pair the kit with two Lou Malnati's pizzas via the well-known online service that features leading Chicago specialty food brands.

"We are thrilled to be included in Tastes of Chicago's lineup of iconic Chicago brands like Lou Malnati's, Eli's Cheesecake, Vienna Beef, Portillo's and Garrett Popcorn Shops," said WynBurg Cafe co-owner Steve Hamburg. "It's an honor to be representing Arlington Heights in this exclusive collection."

The DIY pancake kits include numerous toppings including rainbow sprinkles, Oreo cookie crumbles, diced Reese's peanut butter cups, M & M's, white chocolate chips, chocolate chips, and of course, WynBurg Cafe's famous buttermilk pancake batter. Hamburg spent years tinkering with the recipe, sharing his pancakes with friends and family at semiannual pancake breakfasts. Those gatherings became so popular, he was soon making breakfast for 120 people. In 2019, he opened WynBurg Cafe in Arlington Heights, bringing his pancakes to the public along with numerous other traditional and inventive menu options.

When the pandemic hit and restaurant capacity was limited, WynBurg Cafe quickly pivoted and started offering DIY pancake kits, which instantly became a hit throughout the community.

"We're so excited to be able to bring our pancake kits to people across the country," said co-owner Patty Wynne. "Our secret batter recipe has been incredibly popular in the Northwest suburbs and we're glad to be able to share it with even more families outside of the Chicago area."

Despite the impact COVID has had on business at WynBurg Cafe, Hamburg sees a positive with the DIY pancake kits.

"The pancakes and toppings are delicious but the process of making them is a great way for a family to enjoy some time together. We're pleased to now share that experience with families across the country."
