College of DuPage students nominated for 8 Illinois Broadcast Association Silver Dome Awards

Four segments of Courier TV and the work of two Animation program and two Motion Picture/Television program students at College of DuPage have been selected as finalists for the 2020 Illinois Broadcast Association Student Silver Dome Awards.

Courier TV, the student-run on-campus television broadcast at College of DuPage, covers campus life while providing students with hands-on opportunities to learn about journalism and television production.

Students in the "Advanced TV Production" course do everything from on-camera reporting to behind-the-scenes writing, editing and directing.

The Courier TV segments selected as finalists are "Courier TV News - March 12, 2020," produced by Kevin Ashley, George Brew, Aakilah Cameron, Joshua Cheatham, Miranda Gonzalez, Anthony Guerrero, James Konetski, Danny Olivares, Sy Razi and Anna Sieg, Best TV Newscast; "Inside COD - February 2020" by George Brew, Alfredo Galvez, Anthony Guerrero, Destiny Osie-Palmer, Ryan Radtke, Sy Razi, Sam St. John, Vi Tym, Sara Vacek and Naomi VeVers, Best TV Newscast; "Natalie Payne - Athlete of the Week" by Aakilah Cameron, Best TV Sports Package; and "Saber Duel - Just One More," by Crystal Adochio, Diego Beltan, Vircell Dayap, Lauren McGladdery, Luke Mosz, Danny Olivares, Manuel Rodriquez and Grayson Zweibruck, Best TV Spot.

Additional COD student nominees are "As the Sun Goes Down" and "Miku and the Hunt" by Animation program students Sarah Mitrache and Grace Ruggiero, respectively, for Best TV Longform Entertainment Programming; "Coronavirus: A Documentary" by Motion Picture/TV program students Anna Sieg and Nick Vieceli for Best TV Longform Journalism Programming; and "Life Under Quarantine" by Motion Picture/TV program student Sara Vacek for Best TV Photojournalism.

In addition, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Chicago/Midwest Chapter nominated Ruggiero's "Miku and the Hunt" for a Crystal Pillar award in the College Student Production - Short Form category.

The IBA plans to hold virtual awards ceremony to name the winners.
