Mary's Millennium Knights of Columbus Collecting Donated Items for Homeless Veterans Thru Nov. 22nd

On November 11th we recognize those men and women who have served our country in the military. Since its beginnings, the Knights of Columbus has supported active military personnel and our veterans. This year, join with us to really say "Thank You for Your Service" by helping homeless veterans with donations to make a difference in their lives.

Did you know that the Knights of Columbus began its social service to soldiers in 1916? During World War I, the Knights of Columbus built and operated KC Huts in training camps throughout the United States and behind the lines in Western Europe, all bearing the motto "Everybody Welcome, Everything Free." There, soldiers of every faith found a haven during their service to their country.

Sadly, there are many homeless Veterans in our area. Our council has partnered with Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (MSHV) to make a difference this holiday season. We are collecting new items from their current wish list. In short supply are winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves, food and gas gift cards, towel sets, disinfectant wipes, and sprays. The complete list and more information can be found on our donation website (kofc12801.square.site/veterans).

New Items can be dropped off at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 502 S. Park Blvd., Streamwood IL 60107 the weekend of November 15 or 22. You can also contact us at info@kofc12801.org to arrange for a pickup. Unable to shop, but still want to participate? Make an online donation using credit card or Google Pay or mail a check, payable to Mary's Millennium Knights of Columbus Council #12801, care of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Thank you for remembering our Veterans in your prayers and also for your support of our work with MSHV. Visit their website (helpaveteran.org) to learn more about their mission to End Veteran Homelessness.
